What would you think about an athlete who shows up for football practice every day, learns the plays, does the conditioning drills, yet never attends any of the games? It would seem as though the player is missing out on the best part of football---and that is getting on the field and playing the game.
The sports analogy we just describe is what the Christian life is like for a person who goes to church---even studies the Bible everyday---but doesn’t use his gifts, talents and experiences to serve others. It’s just like going to practice and never getting into the game.
The Bible tells us that God has given each of us unique talents (Romans 12:6) and specifics tasks (Ephesians 2:10) He has set aside for us to accomplish.
While your Christian service should not be limited to only the programs offered at Highview, this body of believers has a great need for the gifts that God has entrusted to you.
